Mark Edington leads the Grant Management Division and oversees the Global Fund’s investments in more than 100 countries. He manages 350 staff in six departments. Mark oversaw the Global Fund’s transition to a new funding model from the previous rounds-based system. The funding model is designed to deliver improved results in the fight against the three diseases by high impact and cost effective interventions developed through an inclusive country dialogue and concept note process. In addition to improved grant-making systems, the funding model also delivers more predictable financing for countries.
Mark joined the Global Fund from Save the Children International, where he was the International Program Director, after several years as Senior Vice President for International Programs at Save the Children US. One of the program streams he led included health and a dedicated HIV/AIDS department for Save the Children US. Prior to this, he held a variety of headquarters and field positions. Mark started his career as a Chartered Accountant and Management Consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC). He is a dual national of the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
